A searingly innovative and comedic take on an oft-told story, DI LADY DI eschews the fairytale glamor of the people’s princess to illuminate her struggles in a paternalistic society and dysfunctional family. Under pressure to sacrifice self and conform to oppressive external demands, the Queen of people’s hearts bravely relinquishes illusory dreams to emerge from her crucible-chrysalis as an empowered woman of influence, transcending celebrity and transforming the monarchy. DI LADY DI reveals what is under the looking glass, taking an unflinching gaze into the heart and mind of an icon in turmoil, evocatively expressing lessons learned from her private journey. Through beautiful, multi-layered harmonies and incisive lyrics, DI LADY DI celebrates the transformative possibilities of looking inward, overcoming familial trauma, and the ineffable power of a woman’s intuition. Great Show! LA Theatre Bites Recommended

Though the show is a one man musical set within the walls of the fabled Atlantis & Vine, the full length version would find Steve returning to reclaim it just as a powerful figure is bent on razing to build a casino. Atlantis and Vine itself represents America….and the similarities between two super civilizations is immediate. One powerful and prolific self-made civilization rose into greatness, then swirled into the unwatched eye of catastrophic self-destruction… and the other …is edging toward that very same brink. Steve Trzaska plays multiple characters in this one-person musical about finding and embracing one’s true identity. This semi-autobiographical show touches on various issues including bullying, sexual abuse, puberty, and coming to terms with your sexuality. This heartfelt production deals with those issues head on with a comedic (and musical) approach. Taken from the website.

It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), this hip musical will win you over with its sweet story and hot tunes! Taken from the website.

Famous historical characters and a rich score propel Ragtime through a spectacular re-creation of turn-of-the-20th-century New York. Based on E.L. Doctorow’s acclaimed novel, this 13-time Tony-nominated musical paints a nostalgic and powerful portrait of three people — a stifled married woman from the upper classes, a determined Jewish immigrant, and a daring young musician from Harlem — whose fates become unexpectedly intertwined. With music and lyrics by the Tony Award-winning team of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the show boasts a Tony Award-winning book by Terrence McNally and such memorable songs as “Getting Ready Rag,” “Wheels of a Dream,” “Till We Reach That Day” and “Make Them Hear You.” Taken from the website.

Good Show!

Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved victorian classic, The Secret Garden, blossoms anew in this enchanting musical by Pulitzer Prize-winner Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon. When young Mary Lennox loses her parents to a cholera outbreak in India, she is sent to live with her uncle, hermit Archibald Craven, who lives in an imposing, secluded manor on the British heath. Inside the haunting house upon the hill, Mary finds a reclusive, long-suffering collection of souls. Since her aunt Lily’s death, Mary’s uncle has pushed away his surviving loved ones, leaving his bedridden son, Colin, alone. Sickly Colin, hidden away in the depths of the manner, bears the guilt of his mother’s death on his crippled shoulders. When Mary discovers her Aunt Lily’s hidden garden, locked shot and overgrown with vines, stubborn Mary is determined to revive the beauty that once was. Surrounded by spirits from the past, who both warn and welcome her, determined Mary begins to peel away the layers of sadness that cover the house and the garden, showing us the power that “one small girl” can have when she “wants things to grow.” Taken from the website.

A normal production of the Broadway legend Les Misérables is overtaken by a bunch of foul-mouthed puppets who want to throw a revolution of their own. Both a loving tribute and a brutal deconstruction of the “greatest musical of all time,” this show is full of clever twists on classic songs, improvisation, and audience interaction. Warning: This production contains offensive language, sexual situations, and musical theater. It should not be viewed by children. Taken from the website.
