Oktoberfest The Musical “An Almost True Story” @ The Crest Theatre – Review

The audience enters a Munich beer hall complete with traditional long tables and benches and waiters and waitresses in Bavarian dress to enjoy a night of song, dance and merriment hosted by a jovial Emcee.  But the show’s producer unexpectedly shows up, outraged that the Emcee has subverted her historically accurate drama of the romance between a prince and princess, into an “almost true” musical romp. The battle between Emcee and producer sends the troupe of hapless performers spinning out of control into hilarious chaos. Taken from the website

Going back to see it a second time!
Just made reservations to see this gem again! Terrific cast, fun for everyone--and there's nothing wrong with getting a free beer with admission. Thanks for bringing this delightful Bavarian valentine to Westwood!

A Bit of Broadway in Los Angeles...
Saw this show last week and was totally surprised by the superb quality of the actors and band! Not used to seeing this in an original show mounted in Los Angeles. I have been to Oktoberfest in Munich a few times can vouch for the Haufbräu decorations and most importantly, the beer! Great songs and a chance to sing along! I highly recommend taking a few friends to this show for some Bavarian Style entertainment!

best evening entertaiment
Great show - super music - fantastic actors – a lot of fun and all combined in a real authentic Bavarian beer tent atmosphere with Bavarian Hofbräu beer. If you want to experience an incredible Oktoberfest evening, without traveling to Munich – you definitely have to see the show!!

Fun night at the theatre!
Nothing too heavy just a wonderfully fun and lively night at the theatre. Very talented and professional young cast with great singing voices. And a very clever plot line. It begs you to join in the frivolity on stage laughing out loud, singling along with the oom-pah-pah songs - all while enjoying a stein of delicious Bavarian. beer Audience seating is terrific, brings you right into the action on stage and also makes you feel as if you were in a real Bavarian beer garden. You really do leave the theatre with a most happy feeling and totally well-entertained. I'm sponsoring a theatre party of friends and family and going back a second time.

Beer-Licious!
A wonderful bright, cheerful evening. Experience, beer and a musical about Octoberfest. Wow. A lively smart cast keeps this warm period musical about the birth of Octoberfest engaging and celebratory.

Great music
One of my favorite things about this play is the involvement of the audience. You are in a Beer Hall (with great real beer being serverd) and a play breaks out. But not just any play, there is something afoot that the cast isn't aware about. Someone is coming that doesn't like what is happening. I won't spoil the surprise, but I guarantee that you will laugh and enjoy yourself. A fun musical event. If you can get a group together, as we did, it is even more fun.

An almost good play
Somewhat fun, but not much here that's entertaining. Reminds me of what a high school drama troupe would stage.
