Journey to the west of Ireland where McDonagh’s vision of small-town despair, restlessness, and plain old boredom inspire behavior of the homicidal sort. Two brothers squabble over the inheritance left by their recently deceased father. Also, there’s a rumor about town that one of them may have murdered the father over a haircut-related insult. The local parish priest and a young girl from the community, also their bootleg whiskey supplier, make futile attempts to keep the brothers from quarreling. Taken from the website.

Set in the beautiful but dangerous landscape of the desert in a future reality, this production of Macbeth offers an alternate perspective of ambition, specifically through the lens of youth. When promised the deepest desire of his soul, Macbeth is faced with the choice to become the man he has dreamed he could be. Influenced and supported by the powerful love of his “dearest partner of greatness”, he goes against his nature to seize his destiny, ultimately bringing on the destruction of his sanity and the future he sought to create. It is a cautionary coming of age story about the decisions we face in pursuit of our goals and the futileness of satisfaction. Taken from the website.

This electrifying tale of a creature cast away by his creator into a hostile world—only to wind his way back in a dangerous game of destruction—has captivated audiences for over 200 years. The gothic story comes to life with Nick Dear’s adaptation of the chilling fable by Mary Shelley, animating the themes of social rejection, intellectual hubris, and the nascency of good and evil.
