Effie is a vulgar, rage-filled young woman who spends her nights getting as drunk as she possibly can. She has little direction in life, and even less opportunity. But everything changes the night she meets Lee, a scarred soldier, who gives her a sense of hope. Unfortunately for Effie there are no fairytale endings in the South Wales district of Splott, and in the months following her night with Lee, we watch society fail her. Like Iphigenia, Effie is sacrificed. But unlike her Greek counterpart, she survives. We’re in Effie’s debt, and tonight she’s come to collect. Taken from the website.
