Hollywood Fringe 2023: The Box @ Zephyr Theatre – Review

On the night that Stephen plans to propose to his girlfriend Alice, her father Cal shows up ahead of her to talk him out of it. At first, Stephen is baffled as to why Cal would object, but as the evening wears on, Cal reveals just how much he knows about the ups and downs of Stephen’s relationship with his daughter, bringing some of Stephen’s deepest fears to light.

Cal gives Stephen one chance to prove himself, but then things take a dark turn. Stephen is suddenly in a precarious and desperate situation just as Alice arrive and he must spend the evening navigating his planned proposal to her with a dark secret hanging over them both. As he desperately tries to tell Alice what has happened, their relationship and the issues they were both trying to ignore come out in full view. Taken from the website.
