“If we women were particular about men’s characters, we should never get married at all.”
Will 20-year old Ellie Dunn fall out of love with her friend’s husband, into love with the 88-year-old Captain Shotover, or marry the mercenary Mr. Mangan so she can afford to buy gloves? In Shaw’s comedic tribute to Chekhov, a menagerie of crackpots, dreamers and schemers, philosophers and thieves, search for the meaning of life and love.
Directed by Artistic Director Nike Doukas (The Hothouse, The Tempest, Cymbeline). Written in the shadow of World War I as the British Empire crumbled, this magical dark comedy asks: where do we find strength in the face of chaos? Source
